What size Christmas tree do I need?

We deliver Fraser Firs from 5 to 15 feet across Fair Haven, Highlands, Little Silver, Locust and Rumson. Here's how to pick the right one for your home.

Measure your ceiling first

Subtract at least 12 inches from your ceiling height — 6 for the stand and 6 for your topper. An 8-foot ceiling fits a 7-foot tree comfortably; a 9-foot ceiling fits an 8-footer. For the soaring foyers and great rooms we see around Rumson and Little Silver, our 12 to 15 foot trees are made for exactly that.

Think about width, not just height

A Fraser Fir's width is roughly half its height. A 9-foot tree can span 4 to 5 feet across at the base. Leave room to walk around it, and make sure it won't swallow the sofa or block a walkway.

Match the tree to the room

Five to six foot trees suit apartments, bedrooms and tabletop displays. Seven to nine feet is the classic living-room range. Ten feet and up belongs in vaulted spaces, two-story foyers and front windows where the whole street can enjoy it.

When in doubt, size up

The most common regret we hear delivering around the Two Rivers area is going too small. A tree always looks bigger in the field than it does in your living room. If your ceiling allows it, the extra foot is almost always worth it.
